About Temperature Records

Temperature records are compiled from NOAA's Global Historical Climatology Network Daily (GHCND), which includes data from over 90,000 weather stations worldwide. Our US records are based on observations from weather stations across all 50 states since 1970.

Each state page shows all-time record highs and lows, monthly records, and the weather stations where these extremes were recorded. Records are updated regularly as new data becomes available.
